Over 1,200 young people and parents gave up their Saturday morning to attend the Connexions New Year New Start Careers Fair held at The Hawthorns on 26 March.
There were also over 40 employers, colleges, apprentices and training providers, all keen to inspire, recruit and educate the next generation of young people. In addition, Sandwell Connexions careers advisers were on hand to give independent careers information, advice and guidance so young people could discuss their options in detail.
Michael Jarrett, Sandwell Council’s Director of Children’s Services and Education, said: “It was fantastic to have so many keen young people and parents at this event. The fair was about giving our young people an idea of the wonderful opportunities out there and it’s a chance for them to talk to people about their future.
“We all want our young people to reach their potential and to take full advantage of the range of learning and employment opportunities available to them from T Levels to A Levels and from apprenticeships to Higher Education.”
Visitors attending the event were equally enthusiastic. Over 99% of visitors who completed an evaluation form said the event was Excellent or Good.

A team of teenage volunteers were deployed on the day to ensure the event ran smoothly.
