“And we saw this in action yesterday, with many of our Green Flag sites hosting events as part of our amazing Queen’s Baton Relay day, with thousands of people and families enjoying themselves, as we count down to the start of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games later in the week.
“If you enjoyed our QBR day, another one of our fantastic Green Flag sites, Sandwell Valley Country Park, will be providing free big screen livestreaming of the opening ceremony this Thursday, 28 July, and of the Games competition events from Friday, 29 July, to Monday 8 August.”
Green Flag Award Scheme manager, Paul Todd, added: “I would like to congratulate everyone involved in making these sites worthy of a Green Flag Award.
“The achievement of these awards is testament to the hard work of the staff and volunteers who do so much to ensure the sites maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag awards.
The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under license from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces.
The awards set the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
