Sandwell Council has been shortlisted for the West Midlands Regional Energy Efficiency Awards 2022, which recognise best practice within the region’s energy saving and efficiency sector.
The council has been nominated by AgilityEco for the Regional Council or Local Authority Body of the Year category of the awards. AgilityEco is the council’s partner for the Local Energy Advice Partnership scheme (LEAP), which provides a wide range of free support services to fuel-poor and vulnerable households.
The award recognises the efforts of one exceptional council that has shown a ‘true commitment’ to promoting energy efficiency within their region for works on residential, industrial or commercial properties.
Lorraine Gumbs of AgilityEco said: “I have worked with Sandwell Council for over 20 years. They have always been very proactive in tackling fuel poverty and committed to reducing the level of fuel poverty in the borough.
“Over the years they have taken advantage of all the funding available to improve the energy efficiency of the properties in the borough in order to improve the lives of their residents.”
Councillor Ahmad Bostan, Sandwell Council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “I want to thank AgilityEco for nominating Sandwell Council for the Regional Council or Local Authority Body of the Year award. One of our great strengths in Sandwell is our working with partners to create strong, thriving and resilient communities.
“We are proud to collaborate with partners, like AgilityEco, to make our housing stock and council buildings more energy efficient, to implement minimum energy performance standards and to deliver our Vision for Sandwell so we will be green in everything we do.”
The winners of the West Midlands Regional Energy Efficiency Awards 2022 will be announced on 31 March.
