Ofsted referred to it as an ‘extraordinary place’ and parents described it as ‘transformational’. Just two weeks after the inspection in October, the school also received the Inclusion Quality Mark and was recognised as being a Centre of Excellence for Inclusion! This is in addition to the Carnegie Mental Health Gold Award it received last year.
Executive Head Teacher, Kate Hazelwood, said:
“I am incredibly proud that the hard work and tireless commitment of the whole Albright Team has been recognised. It is a privilege to lead such a unique and special school.”
Sandwell Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families, Councillor Jalal Uddin, said:
“I want to congratulate everyone at Albright for this wonderful achievement. I would also like to thank our local authority school improvement officers who work alongside maintained schools and support them to reach our aim of every Sandwell child attending a good or outstanding school.”
Having gone through a period of expansion, the school now caters for pupils from Reception to Post 16 across their two sites in Tipton and West Bromwich, catering for pupils from across the whole Sandwell borough. The school also provides education at the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, having moved from Sandwell Hospital recently.
Both Kate Hazelwood and Rachel Kelly, Head Teacher are excited for the growth of Albright’s provision to meet increasing needs within the authority.
