Pupils, teachers and the whole school community at Tividale Community Primary School thank headteacher, Mrs Emma Burnell, as she leaves the school for the next stage of her career.
Mrs Burnell has been at the Oldbury school for 23 years, joining initially as a deputy headteacher and then becoming headteacher in 2008.
Mrs Burnell has worked tirelessly together with the families of those attending the school, colleagues and the community, inspiring everyone to persevere and achieve the best for Tividale Community Primary School.
Mrs Burnell has also supported wider governance arrangements across the borough by taking on the roles of chair for the Primary Heads Association and the Joint Executive Group.
The Primary Heads Association includes all primary heads for 94 schools across Sandwell. The Joint Executive Group is made up from headteacher representatives across all phases and chairs of the seven learning communities in the six towns of Sandwell.
The governors thanked Mrs Burnell for her commitment and the ambitious drive she has shown in leading the school and ensuring everyone delivers the best provision for the children and their families.
Mr Phillip Steele, chair of governors, said: “We know that Tividale Community Primary School is very dear to Mrs Burnell’s heart and she will leave with a great many superb and heartfelt memories of staff, students, parents and governors – past and present.
“She has led Tividale to become a fabulous school, with a never failing and inspirational commitment to the young people who wear our uniform and share our values and aspirations.
“We wish her all the best for her future adventures and she will be missed greatly by the whole school community. She leaves her legacy, which is one of strong, warm and inspiring leadership at Tividale.”
