Hippo Leasing sees staggering growth across low-emission market with enquiries up over 1000% y-o-y

  • Hippo Leasing sees enquiries leap 1066.67% across hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric segment
  • Tesla Model 3 and the upcoming Tesla Model Y accounted for the most enquiries
  • Market trends coincide with rising fuel prices as consumers look to save on daily running costs

The latest figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) revealed that there is a continuing shift towards low-emission vehicles in the market, with hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and full-electric vehicles accounting for more than a quarter of output (27.4%, up from 25.4% in 2021).

This positive uptake is reflected in Hippo Leasing’s own figures, with a staggering 1066.67% increase in the number of enquiries on hybrids, plug-in hybrids and full-electric vehicles in the first two months of 2022. This is in comparison to the same period in 2021.

As one of the UK’s leading leasing companies, Hippo Leasing – part of Hippo Motor Group – has access to the in-demand new vehicles. With competitive lead times and award-winning, reliable service, more drivers are turning to Hippo when switching to electric.

Tom Preston, Director at Hippo Motor Group, said: “With fuel prices hitting a record high and the charging infrastructure constantly growing, drivers are looking to electric vehicles for better daily running costs. We are working hard to introduce the most competitive leasing prices at a time when the upfront cost of an EV may still pose a barrier to ownership for motorists.

“At Hippo, we’re dedicated to building and nurturing manufacturer relationships and already have a strong, established position in the market. This allows us to offer short lead times on new electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid vehicles.”
